The Autokredit from Bank of Scotland is a purpose-bound installment loan for financing a new or used car. It targets private individuals who want to pay off their vehicle in fixed monthly installments without having to deposit the vehicle registration certificate part II (Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil II) with the bank.
On Bank of Scotland's current application page, the Autokredit is advertised with an APR of 5.59% to 6.59% and a fixed nominal interest rate of 5.45% to 6.40%. These figures are noticeably higher than the starting values recorded in our database (nominal rate from 5.19%, APR from 5.32%) — for this review, the more current rate ranges shown on the bank's own application page were used. As with any installment loan, the rate actually assigned depends on an individual credit check; no processing fee is charged.
As a representative example, the bank cites a net loan amount of €20,000 over a term of 69 months at an APR of 6.59%. This is an example under specific assumptions, not a promise of identical terms for every customer. Comparison sites also list an installment starting from €189.20, which refers to a different, unspecified loan amount and term and therefore only serves as a rough indication. Unscheduled repayments are fee-free up to 20% of the loan amount per year, and the bank also offers a fee-free payment holiday.
The maximum loan amount is €50,000, and the minimum according to our database is €3,000. On loan term, the bank's application page differs noticeably from the values recorded in our database: our database lists only a fixed 24-month term, while the bank itself offers terms from 24 to 84 months (the representative example is calculated over 69 months) — this review uses the broader term range stated on the bank's own page. The loan is available only to individuals, not businesses. In practice, a digital account check replaces submitting traditional bank statements, so the application can be completed without paper income documentation.
Bank of Scotland's Autokredit scores with fee-free unscheduled repayments, a payment-holiday option, and a straightforward digital application process without paper bank statements. When deciding on the rate, applicants should treat the range of 5.59% to 6.59% APR shown on the bank's current page as a more realistic starting point than lower advertised figures on comparison portals — the actual rate depends on individual creditworthiness anyway.
