SWK Bank Ratenkredit Review

The SWK Bank Ratenkredit is a classic consumer instalment loan for amounts between €7,500 and €100,000. This makes the offer better suited to customers with larger financing needs — such as debt consolidation, major purchases, or renovations — rather than small, short-term funding gaps.

Interest Rate and APR

The product database lists this loan with a nominal rate from 5.17% p.a. and an APR from 5.29%. SWK Bank's current offer page confirms these lower bounds and adds the full range: the nominal rate runs from 5.17% to 12.28%, the APR from 5.29% to 12.99%, depending on individual creditworthiness. In the legally required representative example, the bank quotes an APR of 6.29% for a €10,000 loan over an 84-month term – a figure that gives a much more realistic idea of the expected cost than the pure "from" rate.

Loan Amount and Term

The loan amount ranges from €7,500 to €100,000 – the database and the offer page agree here. On the term, however, the database diverges from the current offer page: while the database lists only a fixed value of 48 months, SWK Bank's page states a considerably wider range of 24 to 120 months. This more current, wider figure is the relevant one for assessing the product – applicants can, in principle, choose shorter or considerably longer terms than the isolated 48 months listed in the database.

Costs and Repayment

SWK Bank charges no processing fee, and account management is also free. Extra repayments can be made free of charge at any time, and early repayment is likewise possible at no additional cost. According to the database, the monthly instalment starts at around €189.08 as a rough reference for a smaller loan amount with a short term.

Requirements

A minimum age of 18 and primary residence in Germany are required. Importantly for applicants: SWK Bank requires at least six months of tenure with the current employer as well as a permanent employment contract – fixed-term employees or people early in their careers could therefore run into difficulties here. In addition, no negative entries with Schufa or CRIF are allowed. No specific minimum income is stated on the page.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • No processing fee
  • Free extra repayments at any time
  • Generous loan amount up to €100,000
  • Flexible term from 24 to 120 months

Cons

  • Realistic rate, per the representative example, is closer to 6.29% than the advertised best rate of 5.29%
  • Requires at least six months of job tenure and a permanent contract
  • No negative Schufa or CRIF entries allowed

Verdict

SWK Bank scores with a generous loan amount up to €100,000, flexible terms, and fee-free extra repayments. The rate range of 5.29% to 12.99%, however, shows that the advertised best rate is only realistic for some customers – the representative example with a 6.29% APR provides a more honest expectation. For customers with stable, permanent employment and clean creditworthiness, this is a solid option for larger financing needs.
