TARGOBANK's Tagesgeldkonto is aimed at savers who want to earn a high interest rate on their savings for a limited period, without having to give up an existing banking relationship. The account is also accessible to young savers from age 14 and suits both small and very large deposit amounts.
For the first Tagesgeldkonto, TARGOBANK currently pays a promotional rate of 3.25% p.a. for four months, on balances of up to EUR 1 million. After these four months, and for amounts above EUR 1 million or additional accounts, a variable rate of 0.60% p.a. applies. The attractive rate should therefore clearly be understood as a time-limited promotion for new balances.
There is neither a minimum deposit nor an upper limit on the deposit amount – however, the increased promotional rate only applies up to EUR 1 million. Account management, online banking, cash deposits and withdrawals, and account statements are all free of charge. A checking account with TARGOBANK is not required: an existing account at another bank can be used as the reference account, or alternatively TARGOBANK will open its own reference account free of charge if needed. Opening the account requires a minimum age of 14.
TARGOBANK's Tagesgeldkonto is compelling mainly in the first four months, offering 3.25% p.a. on balances of up to EUR 1 million – a comparatively high promotional rate usable without a checking account requirement. After the four months, however, the rate drops significantly to 0.60% p.a., so savers who leave the money here long-term should realistically expect an effective rate closer to that lower level.
